Diocesan Boards, Commissions and Organizations
- Christian Formation Commission nurtures Christian growth through workshops, consultants and networking; organizes Celebrating Creative Congregations.
- Church Growth and Evangelism Commission sponsors an annual conference and provides resources on evangelism and Church growth.
- Clergy Compensation Commision reviews and makes recommendations to Diocesan Convention on clergy compensation issues (such as stipend, housing, business expenses, insurance coverage, and tax issues).
- Clergy of Color Caucus provides support and programs for clergy of color.
- Black Congregations Initiative is an active engagement of 10 of the Diocese’s predominantly black congregations in an ongoing process of ministry strengthening. Working with the Bishop’s office they address unique concerns about polity, roles and responsibilities, and Church growth.

- Companion Diocese Task Force leads in identifying and building a relationship with another diocese; presently in conversation with the Diocese of Panama.
- Ecumenical and Interreligious Commission leads diocesan participation in ecumenical and interreligious ministy.
- Environmental Commission >>
- Episcopal Church Women (ECW) is an historic women’s organization that sponsors programs and outreach on a diocesan and local level; World of Woman, United Thankoffering, and North Porch Women’s and Children’s Centers are key involvements.
- North Porch Women’s and Children’s Centers respond to key infant needs including provision of formula and diapers to clients who are waiting for WIC eligibility in Paterson, Dover, and Newark; sponsored by ECW.
- Hispanic Ministry Task Force leads diocesan efforts to further incorporate Latino/Hispanic persons into the life of the Church.
- Prison Ministry Committee is an outreach to people who are incarcerated and their families and friends; educates on criminal justice system issues.
